“We offer a loving Christian environment for your child to grow and develop a healthy sense of self and positive attitudes. We nurture God’s children through a Christian based education emphasizing social and emotional development. Your child will increase his/her confidence, self-control, and problem-solving abilities. They will explore their world, letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. Fine and gross motor skills will be developed through play and hands-on activities. We are committed to giving your child lasting positive memories of their first experience with school.”
– Mary Dumont, Preschool Director
The Giving Tree Preschool is a Christian, half-day school and a ministry of Lutheran Church of Our Saviour. We have been educating children since 1992.
We follow the Weekday Early Education (WEE) Learn Curriculum as a basis for our program, which is specifically designed to meet the needs of young children. Through training and the vast teaching resources available, we have created an environment that will develop the children’s relationship with God and help them to grow academically through age-appropriate , structured play and hands-on activities. The children participate in arts and crafts, singing, finger plays with poems and songs, and “free play.” They become familiar with the alphabet, counting, as well as appropriate classroom behavior and interaction with their peers. We lovingly encourage proper behavior and help them develop a healthy sense of self.
Here at The Giving Tree Preschool, the children enjoy daily snack provided by their parents. Twice a month our pastor has a short chapel time and our music director brings the gift of music, which enhances their learning experience. We also have a monthly Bible story and continue the message learned with a related craft or activity. We do not go on field trips, but a one-time activity fee goes toward monthly onsite events. The children also spend time outside on the playground or riding tikes.
Our school is in session September through May, starting the week after Labor Day. We follow Chesterfield County Public Schools’ schedule. Class days and times vary by age group: see our class offerings for more information.
